106 Jakarta DPRD Members Inaugurated

As many as 106 members of Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) period 2014-2019 will be inaugurate today or Monday (8/25). From that number, 46 out of them are incumbent DPRD member period 2009-2014 and the rest 60 others are new members

As quoted beritajakarta.com , dozens of bouquets began arriving since Monday (8/25) morning in the courtyard of City Council building, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta. Until this noon, they keep arriving. The inauguration itself begins at 11 AM.

Because the majority of invited guests and legislative member proponents' vehicles parked on the roadside and sidewalk. Even, hundreds of joint personnel of National Police and Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) have been standby in the City Council and City Hall Buildings.

Legislative Council Ratified 6 Bylaws

Jakarta City Council Secretary, Mangara Pardede disclosed the inauguration of 106 DPRD members is in accordance with the Decree of the Home Ministty No. 161.31/-3343/2014. The plenary meeting will be led by Head of Jakarta DPRD, Ferrial Sofyan and oath-taking by Head of Jakarta High Court. 

"The Home Minister, Gamawan Fauzi does not present. Thus his speech of plenary meeting will be represented by Jakarta Governor, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo," he expressed.

After inauguration, he told, there would be a appointment for the temporary of Head and Vice Head of DPRD. Its tenure is valid until official Head of four Vice Heads of DPRD period 2014-2019 are appointed.

He explained the number of DPRD members 2014-2019 is a lot compared to previous period which was 94 people. "Based on Law No. 27/2009 on MPR, DPR, DPD, DPRD (MD3), the number of Jakarta DPRD members is maximum 125 percent than the maximum number of Jakarta residents," he described.

In the 2014 legislative election, five parties were the top five for the Jakarta electoral district is Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Gerindra, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), United Development Party (PPP), and Democratic Party. Thereby, the head post will be served by the PDI-P, while the four representatives from Gerindra, PKS, PPP, and Democratic parties.
